Description
This walk begins at Paul da Serra and ends in Fanal, showcasing some of the best examples of Madeira’s Laurissilva forest. This forest is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 1999 and preserves some of the island’s oldest trees, including ancient Tis (Ocotea foetens).
Along the way, you will see the Ribeira da Janela valley and Chão da Ribeira, two notable natural landmarks that highlight the region’s geological and ecological diversity.
