Description
Experience sunrise at Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s iconic mountain viewpoint at 1,818 metres above sea level. Enjoy sweeping mountain scenery above the clouds as the first light of day breaks.
The experience is offered in three options: Basic, Standard, and Premium. All include the sunrise at Pico do Arieiro, but vary in transport arrangements and additional activities.
The Basic and Standard options provide transport-only experiences. Basic requires meeting at designated points and has no rescheduling flexibility. Standard includes pickup and drop-off within defined areas and allows more flexibility, with breakfast at your accommodation or in Funchal.
The Premium option adds breakfast with coffee, tea, sandwiches, and homemade cake, plus a Paradise Valley levada walk in Camacha (Tuesday to Saturday, if conditions allow), for a fuller morning outing.
This activity does not include the PR1 Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo hike or its trail permit. The Premium option’s levada walk is separate from the PR1 mountain trail.
Mountain weather can change rapidly, affecting visibility and access. If conditions at Pico do Arieiro are unsafe or unfavorable, an alternative sunrise viewpoint may be used.
Selected options offer a Weather Retry add-on, allowing one rebooking if severe weather prevents a proper sunrise experience. This excludes common issues like cloud cover or wind and is subject to availability.
Please bring warm clothing as temperatures at Pico do Arieiro before sunrise are significantly lower than in Funchal. Toilet and restaurant facilities at the summit may be limited or closed early in the morning, so plan accordingly.
