The tour begins in Funchal and travels through Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava along historic routes. In the morning, visit the southwestern coast before a stop for a drink. Continue ascending to the plateau at 1500 meters, where you can drive above or through the clouds.
Crossing Paul da Serra plateau leads off-road to Porto Moniz, where you stop for lunch and can swim in volcanic natural pools. The return follows the northern coast, passing villages and dramatic sea cliffs with lush vegetation, including some of the island’s best waterfalls.
