Cabo Girão
Cabo Girão is one of the most visited points of interest on Madeira Island, formed by a land mass that extends through the sea that is adjacent, located in the south of the island, more precisely in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos. It is considered the highest promontory in Europe and the second highest in the world. The designation of Cabo Girão was given by João Gonçalves Zarco when the discovery of Madeira because this cliff served as a point of reference in the recognition of the island coast.
Next to Cape Girão, the Fajã dos Padres elevator in Quinta Grande transports visitors to a quiet pebble beach at the foot of the cliffs.
From the Cabo Girão the views are amazing, the source for Funchal and Câmara de Lobos and to the south to the immense Atlantic.
