Explore the unique landscape of Ponta de São Lourenço, at the easternmost tip of the island of Madeira, on a self-guided hike. This trail offers a completely different experience from the island's other hikes, with volcanic landscapes, impressive cliffs and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the north and south coasts.
Along the way, you will cross a peninsula with a semi-arid climate, characterized by low-lying vegetation, rock formations and a wide variety of fauna and flora. The hike includes several viewpoints with spectacular views and, with a bit of luck, you may spot seabirds and other local wildlife.
The trail is approximately 6 km in total (round-trip), is considered to be of medium difficulty and takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, depending on your pace and stops to enjoy the scenery and take photos.
