Description
Starting at the charming Queimadas Forest Park, with its traditional thatched-roof house, the path follows the Levada do Caldeirão Verde deep into the heart of the UNESCO-listed Laurisilva forest.
This moderate 13-kilometre round-trip hike (approx. 4–5 hours) winds along narrow levada paths carved into steep mountainsides, through lush vegetation, tunnels, and dramatic cliffs. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of deep valleys, moss-covered trees, and cascading waterfalls.
The trail culminates at the spectacular Caldeirão Verde waterfall, where a thin stream of water plunges 100 metres into a serene green lagoon — a perfect spot to rest and enjoy nature at its finest. Time for your picnic break and back to the beguining
