Description
The tour begins in Funchal, heading to Pico do Areeiro, where guests visit the Freira da Madeira Interpretation Centre and take in mountain views. From there, the route descends past Poço da Neve, an old icehouse, and the Poiso area, historically a shelter for hikers.
Leaving main roads, the itinerary continues off-road to Ribeiro Frio. Here, visitors see a trout farm and walk along Levada dos Balcões, overlooking the Laurissilva forest.
The journey proceeds through nature trails to Faial, then to Santana. In Santana, the tour includes visits to the iconic tourist houses and a traditional family-owned Santana house preserving original furniture and authentic character.
Afterward, guides suggest local restaurants for lunch.
In the afternoon, the group visits the Guindaste Viewpoint, featuring a glass platform with panoramic ocean views including Faial and Caniçal.
The final stop is Pico do Facho viewpoint at Ponta de São Lourenço, historically important and offering views over Machico and Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport.
