Description
This experience offers sunset viewing from Pico do Arieiro’s mountain summit, overlooking Madeira’s peaks and valleys. Guests can relax near the main viewpoint or optionally take a self-guided walk to nearby viewpoints such as Stairway to Heaven (Miradouro da Pedra Rija) and Ninho da Manta, providing different perspectives of the landscape before sunset.
The self-guided walk to Stairway to Heaven takes about 30 to 35 minutes each way and is subject to official access rules, weather, safety, and trail conditions on the day. This is not a guided hike and does not cover the full PR1 Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo trail. Visitors should manage their time carefully to return before the minibus departs, typically around 30 minutes after sunset.
If guests miss the return transfer, they may need to arrange their own transport back. Weather conditions can change rapidly and cannot be guaranteed. Some tour options offer a Weather Retry add-on for rebooking on another date if severe weather affects the experience, subject to availability and terms.
If conditions are unfavorable at Pico do Arieiro, an alternative sunset viewpoint may be used.
