Discover the breathtaking Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço, one of Madeira's most iconic coastal trails, with the convenience of local transport. Pickup is available from Funchal, Caniço, Garajau, or Machico, and you’ll be transported directly to the trailhead. Meet a local driver or host who will provide a briefing, maps, and safety guidance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable hike. This self-guided trail allows you to explore at your own pace along the 3 km route (+3 km return) to the eastern tip of the island, offering panoramic coastal views, volcanic landscapes, and unique wildlife. PR 8 is of moderate difficulty, with an estimated duration of 3 to 4 hours. Along the trail, discover Desembarcadouro and Farol Islets, rare plants, and a variety of seabirds, including gulls and shearwaters. With luck, you may also spot marine life such as the monk seal. At the end, enjoy a refreshing swim at Cais do Sardinha (if conditions allow you to do so). After the hike, your driver will ensure a comfortable return to your original pickup location.
