Next, visit the Eira do Serrado viewpoint at 1,095 meters altitude. From here, see the Nuns Valley and the Curral das Freiras village nearly 500 meters below, framed by Madeira’s central mountain chain.
You may choose to explore Curral das Freiras by driving through the mountain tunnel or return to Funchal with an optional viewpoint stop. Observe the shift from urban coastal scenery to lush mountain landscapes, noting temperature and vegetation changes.
