Description
Your excursion starts in Serra de Água, a village surrounded by rugged mountains shaped over centuries. Observe traditional “levadas” – historic irrigation channels – and terraced fields showcasing Madeira's agricultural heritage.
Next, visit Quinta do Barbusano, a historic wine estate. Here, enjoy a 1.5-hour tasting of six Madeira table wines, gaining insight into the island’s winemaking traditions.
After the wine tasting, travel to Porto Moniz to swim in its volcanic natural pools, conditions permitting. Alternatively, explore the less frequented 'Poço das Lesmas' pools in Seixal village, offering tranquil waters and unspoiled scenery.
Continue to Chão da Ribeira, a lush valley within the Laurissilva forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover historic cow sheds and view waterfalls flowing into the Atlantic, illustrating Madeira’s rural past and natural beauty.
