Opened in July 2021, the Museum of Modern Art in Madeira (MAMMA) stands out as an innovative cultural gem in Funchal. Spanning 800 square meters, this daring museum offers a unique experience, housing approximately 300 artworks, ranging from paintings to diverse installations. Curated into 14 thematic zones, each brimming with creativity, MAMMA is the brainchild of Madeiran artist Rui Sá, whose 15 years of artistic endeavor culminate in this endeavor. Inspired by avant-garde movements of the 19th and 20th centuries, MAMMA invites visitors to explore new perspectives with visually striking and thought-provoking pieces.
