Description
This Land Rover 4x4 tour offers a unique way to explore Madeira Island, accessing remote locations unreachable by foot or conventional vehicles.
The journey begins in Funchal, heading to Pico do Arieiro. At 1,818 meters, this peak provides extensive island views. You will have 40 minutes to walk and explore the summit area.
Next, descend to Ribeiro Frio to visit the Laurissilva Forest and its trout fish farming facility. An optional 40-minute walk to Balcões viewpoint allows for additional forest views.
The tour continues along historic paths passing Cedro Gordo and the Faial Village, where on clear days you can see Porto Santo Island. In Santana Village, visit the traditional straw houses and a waterfall, followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, drive down the old road to the Guindastre viewpoint with its glass platform. Continue to Porto da Cruz Village, where you can stroll the seafront promenade and visit the sugarcane distillery for rum tastings and local cakes.
The final stop is Ponta de São Lourenço on Madeira’s eastern coast, featuring a drier and arid landscape with striking cliffs and colors.
The tour ends with drop-off back in Funchal.
