Description
Embark on an unforgettable full-day 4x4 adventure through Madeira’s enchanting East side—a journey filled with iconic peaks, lush forests, dramatic cliffs, tradition, flavour and pure island magic.
Your day begins at the legendary Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak. Here, you’ll have time to wander freely, soak in the sweeping mountain scenery and capture breathtaking photos above the clouds. From this spellbinding peak, we descend into the heart of the Laurissilva forest toward Ribeiro Frio, where you will take on the famous PR11 Levada dos Balcões. This easy yet spectacular walk ends at one of Madeira’s most beautiful viewpoints, offering panoramic views over the valley and surrounding mountains. Please note: there is a 3€ entry fee for this hike.
After completing the PR11 hike, we’ll stop at a cosy local bar where you can enjoy a well-deserved café and take a relaxing break before continuing your adventure.
After the hike, the adventure shifts gears as we make our way to Cova da Roda for an exciting off-road experience. Surrounded by untouched nature, this rugged 4x4 section lets you feel the wild side of Madeira before we continue off-road to the hidden treasure of Cascata Água d’Alto—a stunning waterfall tucked deep into the forest. Here, you’ll enjoy peaceful scenery, fresh air, and the perfect moment to relax and take in the beauty of the island.
From nature to tradition, we then head to Santana, home of the famous triangular thatched houses. You’ll have time to explore these charming icons and enjoy a delicious lunch in the village, tasting authentic Madeiran flavours.
Next, we make our way to the dramatic cliffs of Miradouro do Guindaste, where you can step onto the glass platform and experience incredible views over the coastline. The Atlantic stretches endlessly beneath you—an unforgettable moment of awe and adventure.
No East Madeira journey is complete without discovering its flavours, so we head to Engenhos do Norte, a traditional rum factory. Here, you’ll see how Madeira’s rum is produced and enjoy the chance to sample some of the island’s finest spirits.
To finish this magical day, we make our final stop at the extraordinary Ponta de São Lourenço. With its volcanic formations, desert-like cliffs and sweeping ocean views, this natural reserve offers one last moment of wonder. You’ll have time to walk, explore and take in the wild beauty of Madeira’s most dramatic peninsula.
A day filled with peaks, waterfalls, culture, tradition, off-road excitement and unforgettable views—this East 4x4 tour promises moments you’ll remember forever. Join us and experience Madeira in the most exciting way possible.
