Begin your adventure at Pico do Areeiro, walking the Vereda do Areeiro trail to the stunning Ninho da Manta viewpoint, the Grand Stairway to Heaven, and beyond. Continue along breathtaking mountain paths to Achada do Teixeira, near Pico Ruivo, the highest peak on the island. Meet a local driver or host at the beggining of the activity, who will provide a briefing, maps, and safety guidance to ensure a safe and enjoyable self-guided hike. After completing your hike, enjoy a comfortable return to Funchal in a spacious vehicle with panoramic windows, perfect for photography. This experience combines the freedom of a self-guided adventure with the support, local insights, and guidance of our experienced driver, allowing you to fully enjoy Madeira’s dramatic landscapes with ease and peace of mind.

Two-part hiking experience: Transfer to Pico do Areeiro for PR1 trail, then to Achada do Teixeira to continue on PR1.2 toward Pico Ruivo. Pickup included at the hike’s end.   • Children below 12 years old or with less than 1,35m are not allowed Precise pickup time will be confirmed the day before or in the morning prior to the departure. Wear comfortable shoes and bring rain gear Bring your own food and drinks Keep in mind this is a self-guided hike. Occasionally the path may be slippery so proper shoes are recommended. Keep in mind that the government now charges 3€ to enter specific hikes. You can either pay by card or with cash at the location or buy it beforehand.
