Description

Embark on an unforgettable adventure along the Levada do Rei, one of Madeira’s most beautiful trails. Pickup is available from designated areas in Funchal, Caniço, or Garajau in the morning. Travel to São Jorge, the starting point of the PR18 hike (approx. 11 km round trip), with a local driver knowledgeable about the area, who will provide a briefing, maps, and safety guidance to ensure a safe and enjoyable self-guided hike. The trail takes about 4 hours (plus transportation, rest stops, and potential coordination with other routes) and is of moderate difficulty. Begin at the Water Treatment Plant of Quebradas in São Jorge, passing through exotic forests, typical agricultural landscapes, and lush tunnels of vegetation. The highlight of the hike is Ribeiro Bonito, an isolated natural sanctuary enveloped by the dense Laurissilva forest. Along the way, enjoy the verdant landscape nourished by abundant water, unique flora, and panoramic views. After completing the trail, your driver and host will ensure a comfortable return to your original pickup location. This activity combines the freedom of a self-guided hike with the safety, guidance, and local expertise. Safety equipment may be provided if needed. Perfect for nature lovers and photographers seeking Madeira’s breathtaking landscapes.
