Description

We take you from any location in Machico to Achada do Teixeira, the starting point for the PR 1 and PR 1.2 trails to Pico do Areeiro. Our routes start in the morning, with pickup available upon request. During the drive, our knowledgeable local driver will provide valuable insights about the region. After your hike, we will pick you up at Pico do Areeiro and return to Machico where you started. We ensure plenty of time for you to complete your hike at a comfortable pace. As an alternative, instead of being transported to the start of PR 1 or PR 1.2 trails, you may choose to complete the PR 9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde hike. For both trails, the transfer back to your starting point in Machico is included.

• Children below 12 years old or with less than 1,35m are not allowed Precise pickup time will be confirmed the day before or in the morning prior to the departure. Wear comfortable shoes and bring rain gear Bring your own food and drinks Keep in mind this is a self-guided hike, therefore you should know beforehand that it’s a moderate level hike. Along the path you’ll have some tunnels, therefore we recomend a head torch. Occasionally the path may be slippery so proper shoes are recommended. Keep in mind that the government now charges 3€ to enter specific hikes. You can either pay by card or with cash at the location or buy it beforehand.
