Description

Discover one of Madeira’s most iconic ridgelines on a guided walk at Pico Areeiro (1818m), the island’s third-highest peak. Avoid traffic, parking hassles, and PR1 access constraints as we take you straight to the heart of Madeira’s alpine landscapes. Your experience begins with a convenient pickup at the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum, followed by a 40 minute drive up to the summit. After a short safety briefing, we step onto the legendary PR1 trail — the route that links Pico Areeiro to Pico Ruivo — and explore some of its most dramatic viewpoints. Highlights include Ninho da Manta, known for its sweeping valleys and soaring rock formations, and the famous Stairways to Heaven ridge, where the narrow trail and rugged volcanic cliffs create a truly cinematic backdrop. Expect a mix of steps, uneven terrain, and sections that may feel exposed, adding just the right amount of adventure. The walk lasts around 60 minutes, with plenty of opportunities for photography and time to enjoy the unique high-mountain atmosphere that makes this area so special. Weather at altitude can be unpredictable. We strongly recommend bringing a warm rain jacket and being prepared for the occasional shower. If conditions become unsuitable for the activity, the tour will be rescheduled or cancelled. The full experience takes approximately 4 hours, from pickup to drop-off, a compact and unforgettable journey into Madeira’s most dramatic landscapes.
